MAP Holds Seminar of its Regional Hubs in Marrakech
The Maghreb Arab News Agency (MAP) held a seminar of its regional hubs on Thursday February 29, 2024, in Marrakech, under the theme “Regional newsmaking: stakes and challenges”.
This regional seminar brought together the hubs of Marrakech- Safi, Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Daraa-Tafilalet, Souss-Massa, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Laayoune- Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.
The seminar, which was kicked off by MAP Director General, Fouad Arif, was attended by the Agency’s Secretary General, Sanaa Ziad, advisors to the Director General, several central directors and managers, as well as chiefs and numerous journalists and administrators from the participating regional hubs.
Fouad Arif took the opportunity to present MAP’s new editorial strategy, aimed at refocusing MAP on its core business, and to discuss with the hubs directors ways of meeting current and future challenges, so that the Agency can strengthen its leadership and stand out as a benchmark at national, regional, continental and international level.
MAP Director General also stressed the importance of the human element, which remains at the heart of the Agency’s new strategy, calling for the promotion of synergy and coordination between all the Agency’s components, with a view to guaranteeing a quality service that meets the Kingdom’s expectations and aspirations.
The meeting was marked by presentations made by Secretary General, Sanaa Ziad, News Director, Mohammed Rida Braim, Director of General Resources, Karim Hosni, Director of Product Monetization, Khalid Oulehri, and Director of Media, Youssef Sadouk, followed by rich discussions on ways to improve the work and output of MAP’s regional hubs.
In this context, emphasis was placed on the training and professional development needs of journalists, photographers and cameramen at the regional hubs, as well as on initiatives to strengthen their skills and expertise and share MAP’s new strategic vision.
The seminar wrapped up with a training workshop on ways to improve work in regional bureaus.
Led by Adil Zaari Jabiri, the workshop examined the challenges and constraints faced by journalists, photographers and cameramen working in the regional hubs of the Agency, and presented concrete ways of improving the quality, quantity and diversification of their output.
MAP will hold a 2nd seminar of its regional hubs after Ramadan, with the participation of the other MAP hubs: Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tetouan, Fez-Meknes and of the Eastern region.
