MAP Holds 2nd Seminar of its Regional Hubs in Tangier
Morocco’s Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP) held, on june 13, 2024, the second seminar of its regional hubs, under the theme “Regional information: Stakes and challenges”.
This regional seminar, following the first meeting held last February in Marrakech, brought together representatives from the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Casablanca-Settat, Fès-Meknès and Eastern hubs.
Launched by Director-General, Fouad Arif, the seminar was attended by several directors and central managers, as well as editors-in-chief, journalists and administrators from the participating regional hubs.
On this occasion, Arif shared MAP’s new editorial strategy aimed at refocusing the Agency on its key role as a main source of information for public and private national media, as well as foreign media.
He brainstormed with the editors-in-chief of participating hubs on the means to take up current and future challenges, so that MAP can consolidate its leadership and establish itself as a benchmark both regionally, nationally, continentally and internationally.
MAP’s Director-General pointed out that this new vision is based on several transformation pillars, with particular emphasis on information sovereignty, the realignment of the Agency’s editorial line and the overhaul of the audiovisual sector, underlining the importance of putting the human element at the heart of the Agency’s new strategy.
In this regard, Arif called for promoting synergy, coordination and cooperation between all the Agency’s components, so as to ensure a quality service that meets the Kingdom’s expectations and aspirations.
Following speeches by the central directors, who discussed the Agency’s new challenges, the participants stressed the importance of mobilizing the necessary resources to improve the action of regional hubs and to effectively contribute to achieving MAP’s strategic goals and editorial guidelines.
Emphasis was placed on the training and professional development needs of regional journalists, photographers and cameramen, as well as on initiatives aimed at strengthening their skills, fostering collaboration and the exchange of experience, as well as sharing MAP’s new strategic vision.
The seminar concluded with a training workshop relating to “MAP regional hubs: Current situation and development prospects”.
Led by Hasnaa El Akkani, regional editor-in-chief, the workshop examined the challenges and constraints faced by journalists, photographers and cameramen at the Agency’s regional hubs, and presented concrete ways to improve their output and enable active contribution in the implementation of MAP’s new strategic vision.
The workshop provided a platform for participants to exchange experiences and explore strategies to strengthen collaboration, improve operational efficiency and maximize MAP’s impact regionally.
The first regional seminar brought together the hubs of Marrakech-Safi, Beni Mellal-Khénifra, Daraâ-Tafilalet, Souss-Massa, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.
