MAP/EFE: Training Session for MAP Sports Journalists
A training session in sports journalism for Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) journalists kicked off on October 21, 2024 in Rabat, as part of a partnership with the Spanish news agency EFE.
The training program, spanning over two one-week sessions in Rabat and Madrid, aims to build the skills of MAP journalists, particularly in sports reporting, mobile journalism (Mojo Data), sports business and coverage of sporting events.
Speaking on the occasion, MAP Director General Fouad Arif expressed his delight at the partnership ties forged with the EFE agency, as part of a long-term collaboration strategy aimed at multiplying joint initiatives through training sessions and other future projects.
“This partnership, which has entered a new phase following the recent signing of the cooperation agreement and the photo exchange contract, marks a key stage in strengthening ties between our two agencies”, he stressed, noting that both institutions are driven by a shared desire to continue strengthening exchanges and exploring new opportunities, in order to meet the demands of a rapidly changing media landscape.
Commenting on the training session, Arif underlined that it was not simply a technical apprenticeship, but a “real gateway to a better understanding of the world of sports journalism and the related challenges”.
For his part, EFE President Miguel Ángel Oliver pointed out that the training session came in light of the organization of major sporting events, such as the 2030 World Cup to be held in Morocco, Spain and Portugal, noting that it was a leading example of cooperation between the two news agencies.
Convinced that the EFE and MAP agencies “can achieve great things together”, Ángel Oliver stated that both parties share the same values of equality, mutual respect and mutual support in journalism.
Last February, the two press agencies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their cooperation in the media field.
The MoU provides for establishing a framework for cooperation in training and internships for employees of both agencies, as well as technical support for media coverage.
