Radio des Andalousies

Andalusian music, with all its diversity, is unique. This music has been enriched from the Ocean to the Gulf, with thousands of nuances that have turned it into a universal heritage. This radio, being a tribute to otherness, wants to restore this diversity in the most heterogeneous way to show this powerful wealth with precision. From Tetouan to Rabat, Tlemcen to Constantine, Fez to Algiers, Tunis to Damascus, Tripoli to Essaouira, the Andalusian music is celebrated with thousands of feats.

Radio Maloulou

This radio is a walk through everlasting Moroccan songs; an artistic creativity that has illuminated Moroccan imagination since the 1940s. If the concept of “Moroccanness” could have an explicit meaning, these songs can express it masterfully. An entire generation of artists, composers and lyricists has been involved in this monumental work that has given nobility to the Moroccan song.

DIB Radio

Rarely have young Moroccans been so musically expressive and lavish. Songs rise from all sides in a sublime creativity with different variations of modern song. As for today’s song, Rap is not the only “success story” in Morocco, as other styles are also expressed with so much talent. Sensitive texts and admirable voices carry this young wave to heights of inventiveness. Inspired boys and girls find in this radio a welcoming and benevolent place which can, sometimes, be that of the first chance.

Radio Hassanie

Nomadism and orality give birth to an evanescent art. This sublime and profound art, that is barely recorded, makes of memory its kingdom. Hassanie poetry rose to prominence for ages now and its musical interpretation followed in the footsteps of developments, peregrinations and influences in order to come out as a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Everything that touches the human soul is said and overdetermined by a nature which is both founding and reluctant. The desert is a far-flung space endowed with its own codes, laws and inevitable fate. An immensity that almost links two oceans bewilders the mind by its diversity and unity. When listening, all these combinations give way to a crystal-clear meaning.

Radio Oum Kalthoum

Never has an Arab singer marked the history of Arab song in such an intensive way as Oum Kalthoum. Oum Kalthoum is a woman of great character, power and influence.  With more than a hundred songs, she put all her energy to serve Arab culture at the expense of her own private life. She managed to introduce and make accessible beautiful texts, demanding poetry and fine literature to all Arab homes and beyond. From Ahmed Chawki to Ahmed Rami, she sang of love in all its forms, nation, nature, and human feelings in all their variations. Oum Kalthoum also inspired the most talented Arab composers: Ryad Sounbati, Mohamed Abdelwahab, Baligh Hamdi, Zakaria Ahmed, Mohamed El Kasabgi, Ahmed El Mougi, etc.  She is at the helm of a great work which totally calls for a tribute radio dedicated to her art.

Tarab Radio

Classical Arab music has undergone glory since the 1930s. One city symbolized this musical renaissance; Cairo. Only one city, only one music, but multiple personalities and various talents came from everywhere to give this art all the greatness it has. Here, it’s not a question of nostalgia but rather of transmission. This radio intends to transmit ideas, emotions, texts and dreams to all upcoming generations so as to permanently share artistic Arab refinement.

World of Aita

Songs coming from the Moroccan Atlantic plains are songs linked to rain, harvests, ploughing, love and generous nature’s prodigality with countless benefits. Songs of fulfilled men and women respond to the generosity of nature. This hymn varies significantly from one region to another but always remains in the same register of happy rurality. Sometimes, when necessary, Aïta can be a song of liberation against the oppressor, of struggle against injustice, and for the emancipation of men and women. Former Caïds, known as the tenants of the protectorate, have been subjected by songs of condemnation and revolt, marking entire generations. The festive lightness in which some want to maintain this ancestral art does not hold because Aïta, above anything else, is the expression of a dense and prolific human epic.

Radio Tamazgha

There is Tamazgha at the origin; a country, a culture, a vision of the world and a constitutive part of human culture. Berber chants will find, in this radio, a singular, welcoming and prodigal fatherland. The entirety of Amazighness music will benefit from an assumed proselytism and will be proudly represented as immaterial evidence of an irrefragable reality.

Radio Samaa

Language is only fulfilled in the scansion of the name of God and the graces of the prophet Sidna Mohammed, peace be upon him. It can have no other use than to repeat endlessly the expression of the absolute desire to walk towards Oneness with God. Delight to the heart is to go in all purity to meet God through decisive stages made up of prayers, communion, concentration, retreats, songs and celebration of the Divine and his prophet. Those who are on this path will find in this radio voice essential contributions which are likely to sublimate their desire on the right path to God.

Radio Malhouniates

Moroccan artists hailing from old medinas conferred upon art a double legitimacy: Handmade art that gives birth to exceptional items and objects and the Art of words that brought to life a corpus which constitutes the essence of Malhoun. We might refer to this as “the composed”, though every piece of music is a composition in itself. But maybe here we are talking about music that is made up of daily words. These words are neither scholarly nor learned. Yet, they exude a confusing dialect simplicity. They deal with almost every aspect of life: Love, women, nature, jewels, spring, gastronomy, sufferings, happiness, faith, etc. Everything is weighed through the balance of pleasures and delights; it is a world marked by openness, curiosity, tolerance, and above all singularity. Meknès, Salé, Fès, Marrakech, Algiers, Tlemcen, etc. All these cities still reverberate with this music of brotherhood and love.

Radio Hal

The 1970s were marked in Morocco by the introduction, on a large scale, of a new musical genre.Nass El Ghiwane, the founding group,—a handful of artists,—launched this genre built on rudimentary and sober instrumentation as well as realistic and powerful texts.Very quickly, the youth followed. This is a music that speaks of their life, their desires, their frustrations, their hopes etc. Several musical groups were born afterwards in the process, including Jil Jilala, Lamchaeb, Siham, Mesnaoua, Tagada and Izenzaren.A word was released and spread like wildfire resembling a musical Arab Spring before its time. Musically, a rare syncretism has operated. A Gnaoui background from Essaouira, the Aita of the Chaouia plains, a solid Malhoun culture from Marrakech and an assumed “Soussi” sensitivity.Larbi Batma, Abderrahmane Kirouche alias Paco, Omar Sayed, Mohamed Boujmie, Abdelaziz Tahiri, Moulay Tahar Asbahani, Mohamed Derhem, Omar Dakhouche, Chérif Lamrani, Abelaziz Chamkh, Abdelhadi Igout and many others have written a unique story that will have a lasting impact on Moroccan music.
